ELIZABETHAN PROSE PART II,THE PROSE ROMENCE, :THE PAMPHLETEERS , THE TRANSLATORS, CRITICAL PROSE,THE SERMON,DRAMATIC PROSE,THE CHARACTER WRITERS

THE PROSE ROMENCE   during the latter half of the 16th century or the Elizabeth age a number of prose romance were produce, they were all written in the new style called Euphuistic style cultivated and developed by JOHN LYLY (1554-1606). LYLY, the courtier, wrote ‘EUPHEUS’ a prose romance in which he laid. the foundation of a new style of prose writing which has come to be associated with his name it is known as ‘EUPHEUISM’ In this style we have LYLY determination to bid good bye to simple prose which WILAON had advocated . ‘EUPHES’ was the first conspicuous example in English of the determination to achieve an ornate, variegated and rather fantastic style. LYLY introduced the practice of balanced and antithetical sentence and led the revolt against simple style. Style was made ornate and rich by  the introduction of classical similarly drown from the fanciful zoology of the middle ages the encouraged the quantity manners of saying things consist quaintness sand individuality were reintroduces in literature , The style off LYLY was closely imitated by his followers such as Greene and LODGE, SYDNEY’S AND NASHE in their romance  .SYDNEY’S ‘ARCADIA’  Pose romance is rich  and ornate ,SYDNEY’S style is called ‘Arcadian’ often if riser to highest of poetic prose but others timer is over lowest with fanciful images and antithesis
Estimating the important of the style which LYLY gave to English prose is ‘EUPHESUS’ ALBERT “It is the first consciously fabricated prose style in the language. It is mannered and affected ,almost to the point of being ridiculous the trick are obvious and easily imitated, and they were freely applied by the next generation; balanced phrase intricate alliteration , labored comparison drama from classical and others source and ornate epithets.
:THE PAMPHLETEERS  During the Elizabethan age there was food of pamphlets on religion politics and literature these  traverse  were writers by a host of literary has (poor writers) who earned a precarious existence in London these writer produce a number of pamphlets which have new lost their jobs in charms. In son of the pamphlets there was plenty of vulgar and personal abuse. The most significant of the pamphleteer where THOMAS NASHE Robert Greene and Thomas lodge these novelist and pamphleteers cultivated   journalist style characterized by vigorous force and raciness
THE TRANSLATORS during the Elizabethan age important classical work were translated into English prose, The essays of MONIAIGNE translated and this translation opened the way for the cultivation of the essay in the 16th century many classical work such as PLUTARCH’S LIVES “VIRGIL’S AENIED” HOMER’S ‘ODYSSEY; OVIOS” these transition enriched the prose literature of the time and opened new ways for introducing in English prose the beauties of classical writer.
CRITICAL PROSE during the Elizabethan age critical prose was attended by SIR PHILIP SIDNEY in the “APLOGY FOR POETRY “In the field of criticism this book remains the only important one until DRYDEN wrote his “ESSAY ON DRAMATIC POESY “ In answer to STEPHEN GOSSON’S  “ SCHOOL OF ABUSE “.In the book Sidney laid the foundation of critical prose writing . He wins for the poet the title of the the maker and vates, the style that Sidney practices in the work is free from the prolixity of “ARCADIA” HERE sideny cultivated the qualities of lucidity charity, humors and poetic prose “THE APLOGY FOR POETRY “IS this a landmark both in the subject matter of prose writing, as well as development of style. The entire work is written a clear and straight forward style without the affection which the same extent mark “ARCADIA” this prose of its best and both simple and melodies strong and sweet and he achieves for prose what SPENSER had done for poetry.
THE SERMON writers during the Elizabethan age there were a number of sermon writers many Theological workers and sermons where published during the this period William parking has left behind a hundred workers to his credit in his direction JAMES USH many sermons, discovers and track, shown learning adroit argument and a plan and easy style “CHARONOLOGIA SACRA” was for a long time the standard work on biblical chronology JOSHEP HALL wrote Theological and emotional workers his later he is without doubt the most literary of the theologians of the time.
DRAMATIC PROSE was cultivated at a later stage it was used by THOMOSH KYD in the Spanish tragedy MARLOWE used it then daringly nearly the end of Dr  FAUSTUS in order to express the pathos agony and of the heroes farewell to his friends.  Shakespeare prose in the presentation of mad scenes or in the sense of comic relief WEBSTER employed prose in the last sense between Bosola and the Duchess in the duchess of malfi BEN JONSON employed prose in his comedies. This the role of dramatists in enriching English prose during the Elizabethan is was quite appreciable. These writer made English prose suitable for the expressions of writing realistic and reflective through.
THE CHARACTER WRITERS during the Elizabethan age number of characters writers and their interest english prose by their characters overbearing “series of characters” (1614) is an important work in the group the book consist of a number of conscious character sketch of well now types such as a Milkmaid  a pedant,a Franklin and An Affectate trsveller they are written from the point of view of the coweties (cowety) and  are epigrammatic and full of consist and with  besides OVERBURY they were a number of other character writers in the age of such as JOSEPH HALL, JOHN EARL,   SAMUEL  BUTLER  ETC

ESSAY WRITING during the Elizabethan age the English essay was cultivated with great care by FRANCIS BACON who has been rightly regarded as the father of English essay to him belong the very great credit of having written essay first of all in the English language the essay of BACON are the rich heritage of Elizabethan age in the field of prose development
